We are glad to announce that Sorido Bay Resort has two new rooms ready for booking: the Kebar Villas and the newly renovated Kumawa Bungalow, previously known as the Kaimana Bungalow. Both are complete, and both bring more space, more comfort, and more reasons to visit us and enjoy unique experiences in Raja Ampat.

The two new Kebar Villas are new beachfront villas in Raja Ampat, built for two people who want privacy and direct ocean access. Each one gives you 120 square metres of room and a private 40 square metre terrace. The Kumawa Bungalow, a refreshed version of the former Kaimana Bungalow, adds a larger terrace and our only outdoor shower connected to an indoor bathroom.

More space, closer beach access, a more comfortable way to enjoy island life: these new rooms offer something different from what came before. Here is what you need to know about each one, and how to book.

Sorido Bay Resort sits on Kri Island in the Dampier Strait, part of Raja Ampat, and has operated as a PADI Five Star Dive Center for more than three decades. You can join guided dive trips in small groups, take PADI dive courses, and get direct access to the Raja Ampat SEACAM Center, but there is plenty for non-divers too:

Papuan building techniques and local materials shape everything at Sorido Bay Resort, and the Kebar Villas and Kumawa Bungalow are no exception, bringing a more luxurious stay to Raja Ampat without losing that character. Alongside it, you'll notice a few upgrades right away: more space, better outdoor living areas, and small details that make everyday moments easier. Here's what each one offers.

Kebar Villas: Our Most Spacious Beachfront Stay Yet

Kebar Villas - Sorido Bay Resort

The Kebar Villas are our newest beachfront rooms. They give you the same direct ocean access as every other bungalow at the resort, but they're specially designed for two people who want extra privacy and a quiet spot right by the water.

Each villa gives you 120 square metres of room and a private 40 square metre front terrace, along with a king bed and traditional Papuan-style architecture throughout.

Step onto your terrace and the beach and house reef are right there. The extra space is built for slowing down between dives: room to spread out gear, relax after a day on the water, or watch the water without leaving your terrace.

With only two Kebar Villas available, this is a quiet, spacious way for couples to spend their days on Kri Island.

Introducing the Newly Renovated Kumawa Bungalow

Introducing the Newly Renovated Kumawa Bungalow - Sorido Bay Resort

The Kumawa Bungalow was previously one of the Kaimana Bungalows, now fully refreshed and renamed. It gives you an 85 square metre room, a 25 square metre front terrace, and a 19 square metre outdoor shower, with space for up to three people.

Its outdoor shower connects directly to the indoor bathroom, a detail that makes rinsing off after swimming, snorkelling, diving, or a beach walk far more convenient, open to the sky above you. Right now, the Kumawa Bungalow is the only room at Sorido Bay Resort with this feature.

Designed with Nature and Sustainability in Mind

Both the Kebar Villas and the Kumawa Bungalow are built in traditional Papuan architectural style, using techniques and materials consistent with the rest of Sorido Bay Resort. Each accommodation is paired with a wastewater garden, where bathroom wastewater is processed responsibly before it reaches the surrounding house reef.

This is not new for us. Young zebra sharks raised at the Raja Ampat Research & Conservation Centre we run on-site, grow here before they are released back into the wild: one small way we help restore shark populations across the Indo-Pacific. Every stay in the Kebar Villas or the Kumawa Bungalow helps fund that work, alongside our PADI Eco Center and Green Fins certification. The reef right outside carries a little more life because of it.

Now Open and Ready to Book

Both the Kebar Villas and the Kumawa Bungalow are complete and available now. You'll find them listed on the Sorido Bay Resort accommodation and rates pages alongside our other bungalows.

With only two Kebar Villas available, planning ahead helps secure your preferred travel dates. Sorido Bay Resort continues to offer guided diving in small groups, PADI dive courses, and access to the Raja Ampat SEACAM Center, alongside these updated places to stay.

If you book a longer stay, you can also take advantage of our non-diving activities and amenities, from kayaking and paddleboarding to the on-site spa. Whichever room you choose, the Kebar Villas and Kumawa Bungalow both add more comfort to a stay at Sorido Bay Resort, without changing what makes it Raja Ampat: healthy reefs, traditional architecture, and easy access to reefs among the most biodiverse on Earth.
